Staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort
Adds Comfort to Disney Vacations

The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) gives guests an opportunity to own a piece of the Magic. This timeshare program, so to speak, is fully owned by Disney. It is different from a normal vacation ownership program in that owners buy points instead of an actual unit and time.

This is pretty cool because these Disney points add a lot of flexibility to a family's travel plans.

Bear with me on this one. First to become a DVC owner, a person needs to invest in a certain number of points. Their account will get credited each year for this amount of points. The owner can then spend the points for a vacation each year or carry them over to a future year. The amount of points that a vacation will cost varies depending on the size of the accommodations that a family wants and the time of year that the vacation will take place. Obviously a big room will cost more points than a small room, and peak periods will also carry more points.

Also, the points can be used at any of the Club properties in Orlando and around the world. So, owners are not tied down to Disney vacations in Florida year after year after year. Not enough points? No problem. Owners can buy additional points at any time.

Because the Walt Disney World vacation club is an "ownership" plan, a family owns their timeshare. Which means that it can also be sold. In fact, DVC resales are big business. And sometimes there are better deals to be had by purchasing a resale instead of buying directly from Disney.

There are many more details and perks to this program than what I have outlined here. The Walt Disney Club website has more info but the best way to learn more about this program is to sign up to receive the promotional video and materials directly from Disney. Also, many Orlando real estate agents are well versed in the intricacies of the DVC Vacation Club resale and would be a good source of knowledge.

Not ready to commit? Disney Vacation Club rentals can be a good way to "try before you buy" especially if you know the persons you are dealing with.
