Disney Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is Ideal for Active FamiliesThe Disney Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is the newest addition to the Disney Vacation Club (DVC). Like all of the DVC properties - it can also be reserved by non-members subject to availability.
This property is large - it covers 65 acres. Rooms are either studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, or 3 bedroom units. All units except the studios have full kitchens. The studios have kitchenettes. The theme here is the country retreat of Saratoga, New York around the 1800's. Victorian touches and the sport of horse racing influence the decor as well.
What I really like about the Disney Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is the emphasis on physical activity. Guests have no shortage of options that range from bike rentals, basketball, shuffleboard, swimming, nearby boat rentals, walking, fitness center, and golfing on the adjacent courses. If that sounds tiring then a visit to the on site spa will definitely be in order. Dining is a bit limited. But it seems that most guests staying here enjoy preparing their own food. There are two restaurants on site and also grocery delivery from the Artist's Palette (one of the on site restaurants). There are also 3 do-it-yourself barbecue areas. Coming in the summer of 2009 - Treehouse Villas will be arriving at the Disney Saratoga Springs Resort. These units should be amazing for family reunions! According to the Disney Co.:
"Nestled in natural forest glens, The Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will mark the newest phase of what has become the largest Disney Vacation Club resort. Opening summer 2009, this new phase will revive Walt Disney World “treehouse living,” a tradition from 1975-2002. While crews are replacing villas of the ‘70s with brand-new vacation homes, Imagineers took special care to honor the original octagonal design. All stand-alone, three-bedroom homes, elevated 10 feet off the ground on pedestals and beams designed to blend into the forest environment, will sleep nine and are planned to offer modern luxuries such as cathedral ceilings, granite countertops and flat-screen TVs, all presented in a style dubbed “cabin casual."
