Which of the Disney Resorts is Right for Me?

When trying to choose between the Disney Resorts most people start with price.

Conveniently, Disney has divided their hotels into four cost categories:

• Deluxe Villas
• Deluxe
• Moderate
• Value

It's a good starting point. But there are deals to be had ~ especially in the "off" season.

When I plan my Disney Resort vacations, I usually pick a handful of resorts that I want to stay at, and then look for a Disney World Resort vacation package that fits the bill.

The first step is selecting the right property for me and my family. Each one has a unique theme and can add a whole new dimension to a trip to Orlando.

Here are the choices:

Villas

Vacation Villas Orlando: Disney's Deluxe Villas are perfect for large families or long stays.

• Old Key West Resort
• Animal Kingdom Villas
• Disney Beach Club Villas
• Disney Boardwalk Villas
• Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Deluxe Resorts

These Disney hotels are upscale and close to the parks. Some offer a bit more square footage in each room than the more inexpensive resorts. The themes are whimsical and entertaining and the service is top notch.

• Beach Club Resort
• Disney Boardwalk Inn
• Contemporary Resort
• Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
• Disney Polynesian Resort
• Disney Wilderness Lodge
• Yacht Club Resort

Moderate Resorts

Not as exclusive as the Deluxe versions, these properties tend to be larger and the rooms a bit smaller.

• Carribean Beach Resort
• Coronado Springs Resort
• The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort
• Disney Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter and Riverside

Value Resorts

The best alternative for affordable disney family vacations, these hotels are whimsical and fun.

• All Star Movie Resort
• Disney All-Star Sports Resort
• All-Star Music Resort

Disney Perks

But why should you choose one of the Disney Hotels - especially when there are so many cheaper options in the surrounding area?

The benefits of staying on property are pretty good. In addition to convenience, you get access to the Disney Magical Express bus service, Extra Magic Hours, and the Disney Dining Plan - among other things.
