Build Affordable Disney Family Vacations
with Good Planning

I wish I could build affordable Disney family vacations with one click of the mouse (no pun intended) or one phone call. But this is one instance where careful planning can go a long way.

When planning Disney vacations the biggest expenses usually are:

  • DisneyWorld tickets
  • Meals
  • Travel
  • Hotels and
  • Souvenirs (a.k.a. shopping).

So, these are the areas that I target when trying to plan an affordable Disney vacation.

What Do I Want Out of My Vacation?

My first step in my Disney vacation planning process is a high level look at my goals. My trip will need to fit these requirements.

To accomplish my personal goals of a relaxing holiday on a budget, I try to travel during the Disney value season calendar. This way I can get the most discounted Disney vacations.

Less costs, less crowds, more availability, cheap airfare to Orlando - need I say more?

Make It All Inclusive

Meals and theme park tickets go hand in hand. The main reason that I forego discounted Disney tickets is because of the Disney meal plan. If you buy a Magic Your Way pass directly from Disney you can add this option. By having your meals included in your ticket - you don't have to "nickel and dime" each meal. If you are looking for all inclusive Disney Vacations - then this option does the trick.

Do you need an Orlando car rental? This town is brimming with car companies so getting a decent rate is usually doable. But as a guest of the Disney resorts you usually can save money by passing up this option. This is another option that creates the feel of an all inclusive Disney vacation.

Choosing among the Disney resorts is also key in planning affordable Disney family vacations. Surprisingly, though, sometimes the value resorts are not the most economical choices. Who would have thought?

And as always the best way to plan cheap Disney vacations is to travel during value season.

Finally, shopping for all that Disney stuff can really hurt the pocketbook. Keeping souvenir shopping on a budget is a must. (Especially if you have a shopaholic, collector, never-throw-anything-out child like my son!)

Have iPhone will travel. There are some great Disney Apps that include maps and wait times for rides.
